… I had listened to him on many occasions on radio and even read his books. On this particular day, I was privileged to meet one of my most admired creative thinker the world has ever produced. I was so eager to ask him to tell me his stories. What I meant by his stories were all the wonderful things that has happened to him including how he sold 1 million copies of his last book in just three months. I was expecting some very mind blowing testimonies of exploit.
The man smiled and firmly and he started telling me the kind of stories I didn’t bargain for. He told me a long story of failures, disappointments,labour,hustles,fears and weaknesses. He told me how he took one year off from family and friends to write his last book that sold 1 million copies in three months. I was expecting him to tell me how he advertized and did some gimmicks that brought awareness for the book.
My bubble burst. His final words to me were
DAVID,THERE IS NO GLORY WITHOUT A CHAIN OF STORIES. BOTH SWEET AND UNPLEASANT STORIES.
1. The world is only interested in the glory. They would never know the stories that went into the glory.
2. The stories are easier to tell when you are already in the glory
