SLEEP YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS
David, did you just say that?. Yes I did. Time check was 5.12am. It was my first night to go for an overnight reading at the University library. I have heard people talk of how they covered the syllabus by reading overnight in the library. I have heard motivational speakers talk about keeping late night in studying so that one can become a successful student.
I joined the bandwagon this particular night to go study in the library and by the time I was leaving in the morning, I felt cheated of my sleep. I didn’t read neither did I sleep as I was restless throughout the night. I knew I was never a night reader but I wanted to feel among. I wanted to prove a point that I sat for 6 hours in the night to read.
That day was the first and the last time I would keep late in the night to read. I eventually went back to my former style of reading in the early hours of the day. What I couldn’t comprehend during the long night was understood in 2 hours in the early hours of the following day. I would have my good sleep and then wake up early to read.
The lessons here:
1. Our individual understanding of who we are is better than societal beliefs.
2. The secret of your success may be weird to the society but that is who you truly are.
3. You do not need to follow the crowd to be successful
4. Find out what works for you.
