Self Control: How To Maintain Self Discipline

Discipline is basically self control, it is the courage to know when to put an end to deviant behaviours, the ability to set boundaries and know your limits.

Most people lack self control which is in other words, discipline. They tend to be deviant when they know or think no one is watching. When one is properly trained in the act of discipline then there is a certainty that he or she will possess self control to an extent.
   There are several ways to discipline oneself and put an end to deviant behaviours. Checkout the following steps:


  • The first step is to make a conscious decision that you are going to quit certain habits that does not represent your image well.

  • The second step is to set boundaries, you should be able to define anything you delve into, be it a relationship, platonic friendship, or friends with benefit, it must be defined.
  Remember, discipline is the suppression of base desires and is synonymous with restraint.

  • The third step is for you to keep tabs, you should be able to keep tabs on your movement, your decisions and your life generally. You should not just act without thinking, Learn to always have a rethink before you act and before you speak in public.

  • The fourth step is to have a reminder; now a reminder could be a friend or sticky notes. In the case of a friend being your reminder, your friend should be able to call you to order when you start making the wrong moves. In the case of sticky notes being your reminder, You should be able to write out how fulfilling it is to be self disciplined. After writing it out then you can put the sticky notes in visible places in your room and remember to read it daily.
          Self control is an enforced compliance or control that one possess to help obey a set of rules that will help one’s life positively.

  • Finally, there is no king like God and no better person to groom you in being well disciplined than God, You can always talk to your spiritual leader and God about the changes you want to see in your life.

Discipline, is a special quality that can contribute to a person’s achievements and happiness, whether in terms of your diet,fitness,work ethic or relationships. Discipline requires consistency and it is the number one trait needed to accomplish goals, lead a healthy lifestyle and ultimately be happy.
